I’ve always valued alone time. It allows me to reflect and be mindful of my surroundings. Alone time means creative time for me -- no pressure, it’s just me and my mind taking time slowly and analyzing life and the world like a weirdo.
Sometimes, being alone gives me a sense of strength and fulfillment because it allows me to get to know myself better -- my beliefs without the influence of others, my capabilities, instincts, and more. Alone, but not the type that feels empty and lonely; rather, it feels like a break or a refresh after a month-long battle.
Silence gives us a better perspective, or maybe at least on my end.
I sometimes go on a drive or walk ridiculously far without a certain destination. I find it more thrilling, fun, and therapeutic, and for a weird reason, it makes me more creative.
Real time is slower than social-media time, where everything feels urgent. Real time often includes periods of silence, reflection, growth, space, self-forgiveness, processing with loved ones, rest, and responsibility.
Leyte
San Jose Tacloban
I spent the past two weeks exploring the Visayas and Mindanao, taking a spontaneous trip to Samar that we booked in late June for a mid-July flight. We made sure to prepare all the necessary documents in response to the LGU travel policies.
The two weeks felt incredibly long because each day was packed with activities. It was exhausting but also filled with adventures, meeting new friends, and discovering beautiful places.
One of my favorite spots was San Jose in Tacloban. There's nothing particularly fancy about it, especially considering Leyte has so much more to offer. But I loved this place for its simplicity, calmness, and quietness. It felt like stepping into a scene from a 1995 film.
I can’t wait to return to Leyte and hug my good friends again.
